Meeting the Needs of the Region's Senior Population
Envisioning growth of the senior population years ago, the City of Cerritos is committed to meeting the needs of the City’s seniors.
The beautiful Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park, dedicated in 1994, is a place for senior citizens to socialize, participate in educational programs, receive human services, and enjoy recreational activities and fitness and wellness programs. Designed to meet the special needs of the City's growing senior population, age 50 and older, the Center provides a focal point for their community involvement. Meeting rooms at the Center, including the 5,000 square foot Majestic Room and catering kitchen, can be rented for events on evenings and weekends. The Senior Center also features a beautiful 5,000-square-foot fitness and wellness center.
In order to meet the housing needs of the City’s growing senior population, and to continue the City’s tradition of providing attractive facilities that add to the value of the community, the City of Cerritos has developed four affordable, high quality housing communities for very low to moderate-income Cerritos seniors, 62 and older, who meet eligibility requirements: Pioneer Villas, Emerald Villas, Avalon at Cerritos, and Fountain Walk.
The City of Hawaiian Gardens opened the Mary Rodriguez Senior Center in 1993. Located in the city’s Civic Center Complex on Pioneer Blvd, the beautiful center offers games, dance classes, food and recreational opportunities, nutritional programs, and local excursions for the seniors in the community.
